Rev. Eric Schmidt is the pastor of Placentia UMC and a staff member for the East District of the California-Pacific conference. He is ordained as an Elder in full connection. Eric and his wife Esperanza feel blessed to serve the Lord wherever they are. They come from big families, joyfully blending their diverse backgrounds by God’s love and grace.
Before becoming a pastor, Eric had three decades of national and international business experience, including work at World Vision International. His earlier career was in New England, the Southeast and Texas. He was a founder/partner in five start-up companies and worked with for-profit and non-profit organizations.

Director of Music Ministries and Pianist, Laurie has served at Placentia United Methodist Church since 1998 in our music department. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of San Diego and her Masters of Music in Piano Accompanying from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Laurie also works full-time with the wonderful choral students at Santa Ana High School where she has worked since 1999.
Laurie considers herself blessed to be an accompanist and vocal coach for the Choral and Musical Theater departments. She is very proud of the fact that many of her students there have gone on to finish their college degrees in Vocal Performance, Opera Performance, Music Ministry and Music Education.

Office Administrator, Izzy has served at Placentia United Methodist Church since 2015. She became a Methodist at heart and found that her belief lead her there in 2016. Over her career she has served in the event planning, fundraising and the non-profit arena since she graduated from college. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and is our Webmaster.

Izzy has been blessed to serve and grow with the Placentia UMC & Cornerstone UMC communities they have opened their hearts and homes which she feels like they are her extended family.
